After a series of rumors, reports, and denials on the part of the NFL, Lady Gaga officially confirmed on Thursday that she would headline the Super Bowl 51 halftime show this February.

Gaga will undoubtedly perform some of the music off her upcoming album Joanne, as well as a medley of her biggest hits from The Fame, The Fame Monster, Born This Way, and Artpop. The choice is an interesting one, as Gaga has been somewhat off the pop music radar over the past few years, instead choosing to release a duets album with Tony Bennett and act in American Horror Story. Still, she remains one of the most famous pop icons in the world, and with her new album on the way is sure to benefit greatly from the publicity.

"The Pepsi Zero Sugar Super Bowl LI Halftime Show is one of the most watched moments of the year, and we are thrilled to see what surprises music icon Lady Gaga will bring to fans," said Adam Harter, Pepsi's VP of Consumer Engagement.

Super Bowl 51 will take place on Sunday, Feb. 5 at NRG Stadium in Houston. The game will be broadcast on FOX. Lady Gaga's new album Joanne is officially due out on Oct. 21. It will feature the previously released single "Perfect Illusion," which she dropped a video for on Sept. 20.
