Kanye West has repeatedly expressed his admiration and respect for the late, great Michael Jackson. During an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in May, 'Ye explained that he would not be where he is today if it weren’t for the King of Pop and his pioneering success. So you can imagine just how much it meant to Kanye when it was announced he had broken one of Jackson’s music records.

Earlier this month, Billboard reported that Kanye had earned his 40th Top 40 hit with his feature on ScHoolboy Q’s "That Part.” The achievement moved him onto the list of top 10 male artists with most Top 40 hits of all time; it also broke Jackson’s record, which is at 39 hits. Though this was a huge milestone for Kanye, some people weren’t so thrilled that he bested the "Thriller" artist. But one person who isn’t salty over the record is Jackson’s daughter, Paris.

After one of her father’s fans went on Instagram to express her anger over Kanye’s new record, Paris quickly defended the 39-year-old rapper in an incredible way. She wrote that she was turned onto Kanye’s 808s & Heartbreak by her father, who "played it all the time." She then went on to say that Jackson never approached music like a competition, and that if music is good it deserves recognition.
