A lot of people get up in arms at the idea of another artist coming in with an assist on the down low. Some are of the mind that you should use whatever means necessary to produce the greatest song possible, even if that means calling in someone else to pen some lines or help with a hook. Others feel that using another artist's words and calling them your own is a betrayal and leads to dishonest music.

All that's to say it was a major surprise to learn from Consequence recently that he gave some uncredited help to Jay Z, back when Hov was putting together The Black Album. "One record, in particular, I was happy about to be a part of was Jay Z’s ‘Encore,'” Consequence said in a recent interview with Power 106. “When me and Kanye kinda was on the phone and we actually kinda came up with the chorus back and forth.”

Unlike Kanye, who also produced on the song, Cons never received any kind of credit for his work ironing out the chorus. Later in the interview, the Queens rapper gave his own thoughts about the practice of ghostwriting in general, and scolded Meek Mill for revealing that Quentin Miller may have given an assist to Drake. "It’s a little venomous to out somebody’s [ghostwriter],” he said. “Especially if  you were paid, compensated and you did get your credit and publishing it’s kind of like that’s it. That’s just the closed deal. It’s a closed book.”
