Beyoncé took to Instagram Thursday to remember Aaliyah with a sweet throwback video featuring the two of them together 16 years ago.

Back in 2000, Queen Bey was on the come up with Destiny's Child and had been recruited to interview celebrities on the red carpet as they made their way into the MTV Movie Awards. "What's up this is Beyoncé on the red carpet with one of the hottest female artists out there," Bey told the camera. The two then go on to discuss who they are most excited to see that night in the short clip. "I want to see D'Angelo perform," says Aaliyah, prompting Bey to agree. "Girl, I'm with you cuz you know he fine!" Aaliyah seconds her opinion. "He's fine. He's hot! Sexy."

Fortunately, the rest of their red carpet interview still exists on the internet, where the pair covers Aaliyah's growing movie career. The singer made a name for herself as an actress in 2000's Romeo Must Die. She also starred  in the lead role of the 2002 vampire horror film, Queen of the Damned, but she passed away in a plane crash six months before the movie's theatrical release. The movie is dedicated to her memory.

Aaliyah tragically passed away in a plane crash on August 25, 2001 after filming her music video for "Rock the Boat" in the Bahamas. The small plane was headed for Florida, but crashed moments after take-off, killing everyone on board. Do like Beyoncé and remember Aaliyah by watching their old interview above.
