It's been more than eight years since the death of Kanye West's mother Donda, and early Wednesday morning, he remembered her with a simple but touching Twitter post to celebrate her birthday. She would have turned 67 on Tuesday.

Sharing a picture of the two of them together, Kanye wrote, "NORI ASKED IF THE AIRPLANE COULD TAKE HER TO HEAVEN TO SEE YOU FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY, I LOVE YOU MOM."

Donda West died in Nov. 2007 after complications from a cosmetic surgery. Kanye has honored her in a number of ways in his music. He recently dedicated his Only One videogame to her, releasing a trailer of her flying to heaven. He also wore an airbrushed T-shirt with her face on it at his Yeezy Season 3 event at Madison Square Garden in New York City in February.

Over the years, Kanye has spoken out about Donda's life and tragic death a number of times. Back in June 2015, he expressed extreme guilt about her death, telling Q, "If I had never moved to L.A. she'd be alive...I don't want to go far into it because it will bring me to tears." He also got a tattoo of her birthday—along with his daughter North's birthday—in 2015, and of course, the name of his creative company DONDA is a tribute to her legacy.
