Makonnen just shared his brand new song, "BreakThatShitDown," which is a 14-minute freestyle he said he completed in one take. Over the simplistic production, Makonnen goes off on a very personal and emotional string of lyrics that features him rapping about his freedom from the label and how he sees himself as the hottest out in the game. In a message posted on his SoundCloud page, Makonnen revealed the song was made for fans that needed to get away from the drama in their lives. "I want to share this with my fans and people around the world who need it. this isnt made for the radio," he wrote.

The release of this song comes less than a month after Makonnen finally confirmed he's no longer on Drake's OVO Sound label, which was a pressing question as the Atlanta artist continued to separate himself from the rest of the artists on OVO. Despite his departure, Makonnen said he had no hard feelings toward Drake or OVO, and even thanked all of them for everything they've done for him. "I’m sure the haters will have something negative to say, but all in all my choice to be solely on Warner Bros Records was the right thing for me and for my best interest," he said. "Sorry there’s no beef to report, DRINK MORE WATER."

It's unclear if Makonnen has another solo project on deck now that he's no longer signed to OVO, but this new 14-minute freestyle is sure to bring him some attention. Stream "BreakThatShitDown" below.
