Premiere: Mont Jake Links Up With Masta Killa for His Debut Single "Shadow"

If you like James Blake, you will like Mont Jake.

A quick search of Mont Jake on Google and it comes up with nothing. Nowt. Nada. Zilch! But that's because the singer, who, right now, is on his mysterious, faceless grind, releases his very first single and video today courtesy of Island Records. "Shadow" is a blissful, electronic-tinged soul song that would sit nicely in a mix among James Blake, Jamie Woon, and Jessie Ware. What makes this debut special, though, is the fact that it features a legend: Masta Killa of the Wu-Tang Clan.

"Since the birth of the Wu-Tang Clan in the early '90s, hip-hop music has grown globally to new heights and the new generation of music has evolved," Killa told Complex over email. "A song like 'Shadow' gives new motivation for picking up the pen. Mont Jake is a new artist, and his insight on music has a different twist." Check out the video for "Shadow" above, which features a boat on a lake—representative of Mont Jake's journey—and some spontaneous dancing.
