M.I.A. has partnered with H&M for a new campaign called World Recycle Week (April 18-24), which encourages shoppers to drop off their unwanted garments—regardless of condition or brand—at any H&M location for store credit.
To get many people aware of World Recycle Week, M.I.A. has released “Rewear It,” a new song and video that finds her dancing on top of tall piles of fabrics. Shot all around the world, it displays the positive impact of gathering your clothes and donating them to H&M.
"If all [H&M] do is go and inspire another high-street brand to get in on caring and being conscious, or if H&M gets criticized for any of their factory processes, these are all good things," she said. "We should discuss them in public and we should have this back and forth At least they’re even stepping into the [environmentally conscious] arena. Any of those things is progressive, and I think you have to give it a chance.”
