Hilltop Hoods just Sold Out Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena

"The biggest Australian Hip Hop show ever"

Shit done changed: A local hip-hop act just sold out Rod Laver Arena.

This country's most successful hip-hop act, the Hilltop Hoods have put a capital S on success. They're probably spelling it with a dollar sign now. $uccess.

Somehow, despite Australia's shunning of hip-hop in contemporary culture, Pressure, Suffa and Debris have sold out the 15,000-capacity Melbourne venue. Punters were paying $81 – plus $5.60 on top for the usual ticketing junk – for general admission tickets, meaning the Hoods have generated around $1.2 million in sales in Melbourne alone.

The group made the announcement via Twitter today, accompanying the message "Rod Laver is sold out Melbourne. See you this weekend for the biggest Australian Hip Hop show ever!" with a picture of professional ten pin bowling champion Pete Weber. What was the connection? Honestly we're a little mystified but hey, shouts to the Hoods for clocking another win for local music.
