There aren't many things more New York than the than the local Jewish deli. Whether you're in the mood for a bagel - plain, poppy seed, everything, or however else you'll have it - pastrami on rye with saurkraut, or a hot bowl of matzoh ball soup, the deli is a mainstay and staple of the Big Apple. As a proud "New York-ian," El-P of the Run the Jewels is naturally a fan of the institution, so much so that he's become the part-owner of a brand new deli that opens for business today.

The name of the new restaurant is Frankel's, and it's located out in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Grub Street reports that the deli was spearheaded by two brothers, Zach and Alex Frankel who've enlisted former Food Network star Ashley Berman to come onboard as the executive chef. Also a part owner? Queen's own Despot. If El-P is to be believed, Frankel's is a great spot for those "New Yorkers who refuse to eat this stupid f--king purple "bagel."
