While we covered the bizarre case of the Maitreya Festival only this morning, there are already further developments in regards to the doomed-to-fail event.
Missing the necessary council permits, and without any medical or fire assistance, police presence, or even speakers, things were looking pretty dire. A further post from Buloke Shire council has indicated that food vendors, toilet facilities, security, sound, lighting, and power services were all similarly withdrawn.
Naturally, this led the organisers to cancel the event on their Facebook page – less than 24 hours before it was set to begin. Organisers had changed the event name to include the word cancelled and made the post, but then restored the title and deleted their post, confusing things further.
The recourse for this, was an outpouring of people who are mad upset about the whole debacle. Some decided to take their anger out at the organisers, others demanded refunds and a few quickly moved on to trying to figure out what the hell they were going to do with their weekend now.
