Philadelphia rapper Dice Raw delivers an emotional and powerful song for Black History Month. Over a soulful sample, “Young, Gifted and Black” is a statement for the artists and entrepreneurs who are thriving in their industry. Despite some negative attention towards the Black Lives Matter movement, Dice Raw salutes the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Jimi Hendrix, Russell Simmons, Jay Z, Puff Daddy and more for being “young, gifted and black.” He later ends the two-minute song with a reminder of the injustice done to unarmed black teenagers. “Purgatory for the black man I guess we’ll see / When a poor excuse for a cop aims and shoots me / In the back—because I’m young, gifted and black / An attack, that’s a motherfuckin’ fact.” Listen to the song below, and purchase it here on iTunes.
