When it comes to hip-hop acts that hail from New Jersey, Naughty by Nature is at the top of the heap. Bursting onto the scene in 1991, Treach, Vinnie, and Kay Gee leapt to the top of the charts with certified classics like "O.P.P." and "Everything's Gonna Be Alright," but over the years, the Grammy Award-winning group (like many others) hit a number of snags, including some vicious tweets from Treach in 2013 saying that Vinnie had been "fired" from the group, with word that Treach and Vin had come to blows, and that they had actually separated in 2008.
Today, we're told that all of this has changed, and Naughty are back as a trio to celebrate their 25th anniversary. The first step in that celebration is a special giveaway of their certified platinum self-titled 1991 album. The free giveaway is in two parts: The first is of the 1991 Naughty by Nature release, with the second being a dope pack of "Naughty Rarities," which features remixes from Pete Rock, the Beatnuts, Salaam Remi, and others, as well as previously unreleased songs.
Obtaining this free giveaway is as easy as signing up for Naughty's newsletter, but be forewarned: The giveaway kicked off at 12 p.m. on Dec. 30 and only runs for 25 hours.
Word is that Naughty is set to release a new EP and documentary in the new year, and will be going on a 26-date tour that kicks off in late January. Naughty had this to say about their 25th anniversary: "We're recording a new project, got that classic merchandise, we are a legendary brand and group. We put on one of the best live shows in the business, and after 25 years we are still here!"
