Drake, Taylor Swift and Mark Ronson Dominated the Mid-Year Sales Report

Hip-hop as a whole bounced back from 2014.

Recently, the Nielsen Soundscan mid-year sales report was released, and it featured a very strong showing from hip-hop, which was notably down in 2014 due to the lack of major releases. The report, which focuses on the top selling albums and singles via traditional sales or with streams, features a whole lot of Taylor Swift's 1989 at the top of every album sales list, with Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late coming in at the No. 2 spot on the charts.

As far as digital song sales, Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk" leads the way, with Wiz Khalifa, The Weeknd, Rihanna, and Fetty Wap all making appearances in the top-ten. "Uptown Funk" also led the way in the most-streamed songs category, but Fetty's "Trap Queen" was not far behind, with Wiz, The Weeknd, and Omarion all securing top-ten spots. As far as overall music streaming goes, Nielsen announced that streaming on audio and video services has increased by 92.4% from last year to a total of 135.2 billion streams, which is up from 70.3 billion counted on the mid-sales report from 2014.
