Here's Some Footage of the Jamie xx-Scored Ballet 'Tree Of Codes'

This is what Jamie xx scoring a ballet sounds like.

Jamie xx has been very busy the last couple of months after releasing his new record In Colourlinking up with Young Thug to make some "Good Times" and even playing French TV for a reunion with fellow xx bandmates Romy Madley-Croft and Oliver Sim to perform "Loud Places." We also reported early in June that the UK producer latest feat would be scoring a ballet titled Tree of Codes and now fan footage has emerged online of the production ahead of its worldwide run. The two-hour performance choreographed by Wayne McGregor features all original music - has been scored by Jamie xx, who’s put together original music for the piece. Footage has now emerged of the ballet’s opening night, before it goes on a worldwide run.

“I didn’t think I would be as moved by the dancing as I am," Jamie told DIY. It might be because I’m literally in this small rehearsal room with twelve very muscular people, dancing around me and so close to me they’re almost on me. It’s definitely affecting. Some of the music is more abstract, but I also wanted to have some song structures go in and out of focus. I never went to see any ballet in advance. I didn’t want to be influenced that way.” Watch the footage from the show's debut this past weekend at the Manchester International Festival below.
