Albert Hammond Jr. will forever be known as member of The Strokes. However, as he readies for the release of his third solo album—the first since getting sober five years ago—there is a building and hope of much more ahead. The record Momentary Masters is dedicated to a friend who died of an overdose only two weeks after he met her and it seems we can expect that sobering loss and his new clarity to bleed through his self-realization through the record. “I spent so long kind of dead,” he told Stereogum. “[Now] part of me wants to understand things, part of me wants to try to leave things better than when I came in.”

The latest glimpse of what's to come arrives with his new track "Side Boob." Frenetic and bold, the track revels in its brisk riffs and taut melody providing the same instant gratification of a Strokes song. Check out "Side Boob" above and look for his new album Momentary Masters out July 31 on BMG/Vagrant (pre-order here and get "Born Slippy" & "Losing Touch" instantly). You can also catch Albert Hammond Jr. on tour at Lollapalooza in August and across North America starting September 9 (dates here).
