Rome Fortune hails from Atlanta, GA and is inarguably a fixture in the “New Atlanta Scene.” Yet, unlike his contemporaries whom all have affiliations or ties to various crews and collectives, Rome mostly rides solo.

It’s this lone-wolf attitude paired with his charismatic demeanor that facilitates Rome’s ability to collaborate with a wide range of artists and maintain a consistent output. For such an emerging artist, Rome is prolific to say the least; he released three full length projects as well as an EP last year, as well as two projects in 2015 already. He’s worked with everyone from OG Maco, iLOVEMAKONNEN, CEEJ of Two-9, and even indie rock veterans Four Tet. “Blood Diamonds, I collaborate a lot with him out here in LA. We actually have an album that’s unreleased… Toro [y Moi] reaching out to me was crazy because I’ve been a fan for so long… The first night we talked he sent me a couple tracks. He was like “I could hear you on these” I recorded immediately to them and sent em back so, ya know. That’s gonna be some good stuff to look out for.” Rome tells Complex NEWS in his nonplused candor from the comfort of a barbers chair in Los Angeles. All this has happened in the interim since we last spoke to Rome back in August of last year.

Complex NEWS recently linked up with Rome on Fairfax Avenue out in Los Angeles to discuss everything from style, to collaborating with such a wide range of artists, to Rome's thoughts on the new Atlanta scene. Check out the video above and be sure to catch Rome on tour with IAMSU! if he's stopping through your city.
