Legendary hip-hop group De La Soul is currently working on a new album and they just launched a Kickstarter to help their fans get more involved in the making of the project. The idea of using a Kickstarter to fund an album isn't a new idea, with TLC and others using the process effectively, but De La Soul is ready to put their very own spin on it.

The group is offering fans plenty of ways to contribute to the project, which varies from donating $25 that gets you the album and some bonus material, up to $7,5000, where a lucky fan would get to record their very own skit on the album. The goal for the Kickstarter is set at $110,000 and so far, the group has already raised over $26,000 for the project. The album is currently slated for a fall release and will reportedly feature appearances from 2 Chainz, Little Dragon, and more. The full list of perks and packages can be seen here.

UPDATE 3/31/15: De La Soul has already raised over $175,000 for their new album on Kickstarter.
