As Charles Hamilton embarks on his musical comeback, the one-time rap prodigy from Harlem recently sat down with Billboard for an in-depth conversation about his troubled past and potentially bright future. In the interview, Hamilton opened up about his mental health issues and admitted that he left the industry because of it. “I wanted to commit career suicide, physical suicide, spiritual suicide—I didn’t care anymore,” revealed Hamilton.

Even despite all of his past troubles and demons, it appears that Hamilton is ready to move on. He recently inked a deal with Republic Records and announced his new single with Rita Ora, which he later debuted during his return performance in Los Angeles. The single is set to also appear on the season finale of Fox's Empire, which will air on March 18. Hamilton's full interview with Billboard can be read here.
