With an exceptionally promising N.W.A. biopic and now a Frankie Knuckles film on the way, 2015 looks to be the year of the biopic. Titled The Warehouse, it will cover Knuckles' life within the context of the Chicago house music scene, as well as highlight his legacy at the Warehouse, a club many consider to be the birthplace of house music.

Bob Teitel (of Barbershop fame) has been tapped to produce the film, while Billy DecRandy Crumpton, and Joe Shanahan will also contribute in the making of the film. There's not a great deal of info aside from a press release promising the film will "pay tribute to the life story of The Warehouse owner Robert Williams and the legacy of Knuckles's timeless artistry."

"Growing up in Chicago, I always knew about The Warehouse and its ties to house/dance music," Teitel said. "What amazes me is what started as a fad in a small Chicago club in the late seventies, has evolved into the biggest genre of music in the world."

A kickoff party is taking place at The Underground in Chicago on Mar. 31, exactly one year one from Frankie's untimely passing, and all proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Frankie Knuckles Foundation.
