Made In Heights—the Los Angeles-based creation of producer Sabzi (of Blue Scholars fame) and singer Kelsey Bulkin—should be on your radar if they aren't already. They initially joined forces a few years back, combining a love for music through genuine friendship, and soon after released their self-titled album. The project certainly delivered on what the duo refers to as "mythical filth" pop, highlighted by the groovy two-step trance of "Wildflowers (Exhale Efreet)" and the playfully light hip-hop vibe of "All the Places." More recently, Made In Heights dropped "Murakami," which offers up a powerfully cascading soundscape from Sabzi and Bulkin's captivating vocals. By then it was clear they had something special brewing.
Today, Made In Heights share their new single, "Ghosts," which continues the electrifying chemistry between the two. Sabzi keeps things upbeat and sweet with a backdrop that sounds like the indie pop version of Ghost Town DJ's "My Boo," while Bulkin's soothing voice brings about an internal warmth that gets deeper with each listen. "Taking my tears and filling their cups up," she sings. Get on that fucking level.
Along with releasing new music, Made In Heights announce plans to join producer TOKiMONSTA as support for her upcoming fall tour, with the full schedule listed below.
