March 27, 2009
On March 27, 2009, T.I. was sentenced to one year and one day in prison and fined $100,300 for purchasing machine guns and silencers. His original sentence was a maximum of 10 years and a $250,000 fine, but a plea bargain lessened his sentence. T.I. was released from prison on December 22, 2009 and stayed in a halfway house in Atlanta until March 26, 2010. After he was freed from jail, he was required to undergo drug counseling, DNA testing, an audit of his accounts, and unplanned property inspections.
