Chicago rapper Tree has already had a busy year, putting out a great seven-song EP just last month. But the soul trap impresario also appears to have plenty in the vaults. Today Chicago label Closed Sessions shared a collaboration between Tree and producer Thelonious Martin, whose credits include work with Chance The Rapper, Curren$y, MellowHigh, RetcH and others.
While many people have recognized the talent of these two more recently, this recording is from back when they weren't quite as high-profile: the summer of 2012. It holds up to anything current, though, with Martin's deft sampling setting the mood for Tree's lived-in raps. This is dope, and, by coming out now, it shows these two have been putting out solid stuff for a while, whether or not you've been paying attention.
