When we spoke with Rell the Soundbender, he put us on to his days as M. Rell, producing tracks for Far East Movement back in the day. While they went their separate ways, earlier this year Rell flipped Far East Movement's "The Illest," and it's great to know that they've realigned and are working on new material. We get the first true glimpse of that with their Murder Was The Bass EP, which features noneother than the legendary Dogg Pound member Kurupt, who is one of the more underrated MCs, ever. He doesn't do too much rhyming on these tunes, as his presence is literally more like Jay Z's on "Higher": doing a shout out and having parts of his intro being sampled throughout the first two tunes on this release. Track three ("Inglewood") might be the most monstrous cut on this EP, featuring a wild, trunk-rattling G-Funk send up. This will murder everything in your hooptie. And it's all free? Tough!
