Troy Ave is gearing up to release his project New York City: The Album, and the Brooklyn rapper drops the title track today featuring Raekwon, N.O.R.E. and Prodigy.
Produced by John Scino, the boom bap-tinged backdrop and subtle soulful humming brings out the raw aesthetic in this record, where the four rappers make note of their allegiance to NYC. Troy even sends a few words toward Kendrick Lamar's direction, calling him a "weirdo rapper." This verbal gesture comes after the Compton MC donned himself the "King of New York" on Big Sean's "Control" record.
Troy Ave's New York City: The Album will be released later this month.
