Story of The Week: Lil b unexpectedly realeases i'm gay on itunes
In April, while on stage during his set at the Coachella music festival, Lil B unexpectedly announced that his next album would be titled I’m Gay. The buzz generated both positive and negative responses including a statement from GLAAD who was hopeful of the project and death threats sent from disgruntled fans. Able to keep the project tightly under wraps, the controversial rapper released the album on iTunes without warning Thursday around noon. As if that wasn’t shocking enough, out of appreciation for his fans he also tweeted a free-download link for those unable to purchase the album. Thank you Based God!
Song of The Week: 2pac “Watch Yo Mouth”
This week hip-hop was blessed with not one but two new records from the late Tupac Shakur. Both records are diss songs, in which Pac is busting off stray shots in every direction. "NY '87" is a record with Dogg Pound, but “Watch Yo Mouth” was the highlight. On the later track, Pac's hit-list includes Dr. Dre, Nas, De La Soul, Wendy Williams, Biggie, and Diddy, whom he affectionately calls “Cream Puff.” Tupac back, for real this time.

Tuesday night Pete Rock and Smif-N-Wessun took to Tammany Hall in New York City to celebrate the release of their new album, Monumental. However, amidst the celebration things took a turn for the worst when police started to harass partygoers outside of the venue. Both Pete Rock and Smif-N-Wessun have since released statements regarding the incident.
Win of The Week / Fail of The Week
Kanye West had a great week by scoring a partnership with Island Def Jam to turn his G.O.O.D. Music imprint into a full-fledged record label. The first album release from the label came on Tuesday when Big Sean’sFinally Famous: The Album hit stores. We’re looking forward to more from the house that ‘Ye built.
On the losing end this week was Lady Gaga. The “Born This Way” star was sued this week by a Michigan law firm accusing her of pocketing the proceeds of her “We Pray For Japan” wristbands. The proceeds were supposed to have gone to Japan earthquake and tsunami relief charities, but the firm claims that Gaga inflated her costs in order to make a profit on her initial investment. Ouch! Gaga better get that poker face ready for court.

Number of The Week: How Much Did MJ’s Iconic Thriller Jacket Sell For?
When Michael Jackson’s famous red jacket worn in the “Thriller” video was auctioned off on Sunday the anticipated price tag was between $200,000 and $400,000. However, Milton Verret—a commodities trader from Austin, Texas—surprised everyone when he ponied up $1.8 million for the iconic wardrobe piece. Verret plans to use the jacket as a fundraising tool on tour with the proceeds going to various children’s charities. As of yet, Verret has not announced any late-night zombie block-parties.
