Man Arrested for Driving 112 MPH Tells Police He Did It for Snapchat

Absolutely nothing about this is a good idea.

What you're about to read is a series of bad ideas that you should by no means attempt to recreate for your own personal gain. That being said, it's also pretty fucking hilarious.

An Alpharetta, Georgia man was pulled over for speeding on the GA-400 freeway Tuesday night. His speed? 112 mph. His reason? Snapchat.

"We could have had a serious crash, serious traffic accident," Alpharetta Police Department of Public Safety Spokesperson George Gordon toldWXIA-TV Thursday. "It is a heavily traveled corridor, and I can't fathom 112 miles an hour at 9 at night on a busy night, doing something like that. Unfortunately for the driver—fortunately for us—he passed one of our traffic units, and, who knows, we may have saved a life."

In dashcam footage shared by police, driver Malon Neal is shown being pulled over in a Dodge Charger and is heard being questioned on why, exactly, he was speeding. "I would love to see where you are headed in such a hurry," the officer says. Neal's initial response is unclear, so the officer follows up with, "Trying to what?" Then, Neal hits him with this:

Do it for Snapchat.

Neal was ultimately arrested for speeding, reckless driving, and the use of a cell phone while operating a vehicle.

Though police have not specified, Snapchat's speed filter could have played a role in the driver's decision to cruise around at 112 mph. The filter has been controversial in the past, including a 2015 car crash in Georgia that resulted in a lawsuit. In January of this year, however, CBS Newsreported that a judge had dismissed claims against Snapchat, which alleged that its speed filter was to blame.

In short: please refrain from doing shit like this.
