A truck driver was forced to brake heavily on Sydney’s M5 this morning, narrowly avoiding hitting a bus full of school children yesterday.
Police released the intense as shit footage this morning, showing the bus pulling out in front of the truck in Hammondville.
The video shows the bus driver, for inexplicable reasons, pull out smack bang in front of the truck. An inexperienced or slower driver would have not been able to stop in time, and would have likely resulted in disastrous casualties. The driver, however, managed to brake not just in time, but correctly enough to cause the truck to jack-knife rather than flip.
Police have praised the driver’s actions, with Liverpool Detective Inspector Dean Johnstone saying “he’s certainly prevented what could have been a very catastrophic incident”.
No information has yet been released in regards to what exactly the 59-year-old bus driver was thinking, but passing motorists flagged him down and he is expected to be charged as police begin to investigate the incident.
