Back in March, which now feels like torturous eons ago, Bastard in Chief Donald Trump told Fucker (Tucker) Carlson he felt he "wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Twitter." According to Trump, Twitter allows him to bypass news outlets that will rightfully call him out for bullshitting by giving him a platform to spew said bullshit without truth's interference.

In a New York Timesinterview Saturday, Twitter co-founder Evan Williams expressed remorse for any unintentional assistance in getting a reality TV pest elected. "It's a very bad thing, Twitter's role in that," Williams said. "If it's true that he wouldn't be president if it weren't for Twitter, then yeah, I'm sorry."
The internet at large, Williams said, is broken. "I think the internet is broken," he told the Times. "And it's a lot more obvious to a lot of people that it's broken."
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey had a slightly different interpretation of Trump's Twitter presence. Asked by Recode execute editor Kara Swisher in December if he felt responsibility for Trump's election, Dorsey said his feelings on the issue were "complicated" and that he remained proud of Twitter's accomplishments.
"I feel very proud of the role of the service and what it stands for and everything that we’ve done, and that continues to accelerate every single day," Dorsey said. "Especially as it's had such a spotlight on it through his usage and through the election."
