Roanoke, Texas Teacher Katherine Ruth Harper is currently free on a $15,000 bond and on administrative leave after being arrested last week for an alleged improper relationship with one of her students. Harper, who is reportedly married and currently eight months pregnant, served as a seventh grade English teacher and tennis coach at John M. Tidwell Middle School.
According to information obtained by Denton County, Texas' Fox affiliate Fox 4 News, Harper allegedly had multiple sexual encounters with the victim, who was 15 years old at the time. It’s reportedly unclear if the student is the father of Harper’s unborn child.
Authorities from the Northwest Independent School District in Texas were informed about the affair via an anonymous tip on the school’s website in December of 2016, according to court documents.
An arrest warrant states the victim began crying and admitted to several encounters with Harper when he was questioned by his current principal at Byron Nelson High School.
“One thing led to another and she told me to ‘put it in’ and I did,” the boy said, according to court documents.
The warrant also details other sexual between Harper and the student facilitated by alcohol. Police say the pair communicated approximately 76 times in a two-month span, which reportedly included the victim receiving nude selfies from her by phone.
Prior to the alleged affair, Harper was the student’s tennis coach.
