After attempts to repeal Obamacare spectacularly failed, a Republican PAC failed by running celebratory ads.

The American Action Network touts itself as an “action tank that will create, encourage and promote center-right policies based on the principles of freedom, limited government, American exceptionalism, and strong national security.” In laymen’s terms this is a typical political action committee used to privately raise money to influence public policy—such as repealing a polarizing statute like the Affordable Care Act.

Friday, the American Action Network pulled off the political equivalent of spiking the ball before crossing the goal line by taking out ads asking Republican constituents to thank their Congress representatives for repealing the Affordable Care Act. This would’ve been an effective strategy if the attempt to repeal what is commonly known as “Obamacare” didn’t fail in spectacular fashion, as House Republicans withdrew the healthcare bill that could’ve possibly replaced Obamacare due to a lack of votes Friday.

It would appear the American Action Network already purchased the advertising space to celebrate a potential repeal of Obamacare, so viewers watching the NCAA Men’s Tournament and various NBA games saw ads prompting them to thank elected officials for repealing a statute that is still very much in effect.

Are you stupid or what?
@AAN millions of Americans are ecstatic that you and the Ludicrous Tangerine Ballbag failed to rob us of access to affordable healthcare. pic.twitter.com/ioq8L0HkbH

Republicans have tried and failed to kill Obamacare for seven years.

Trumpcare died in 17 days.
President Trump: I never said repealing and replacing Obamacare would be easy.

Really? Let's check the tape: pic.twitter.com/3Pk675UAqn

After the advertisements aired, the AAN released a statement via Twitter, and users with opposing political beliefs got in their mentions with all forms of digital ether.
