The Wall Street Journal is reporting President Donald Trump’s former national security advisor, Mike Flynn, has agreed to be interviewed by the FBI and both the House and Senate intelligence committees in exchange for an immunity grant. The FBI and congressional officials are investigating the Trump campaign’s potential ties to Russia.

The WSJ cites “officials with knowledge of the matter.” The officials say the offer has not yet been responded to.

Flynn appeared to confirm the reports on Thursday night when his attorney Robert Kelner issued a public statement.

"[W]e will not comment right now on the details of discussions between counsel for General Flynn and the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, other than to confirm that discussions have taken place... No reasonable person...would submit to questioning in such a highly politicized, witch hunt environment without assurances against unfair prosecution."

Flynn was the national security advisor for only 24 days; he was dismissed from office Feb. 13 after information surfaced that he had misled Vice President Mike Pence regarding Flynn’s communications with Sergey Kislyak, the Russian ambassador to the United States. Fllynn came under fire for one phone call in particular with Kislyak, during which he reportedly discussed sensitive information.

The White House had been warned that Flynn was potentially vulnerable to Russian blackmail.  H.R. McMaster is the new national security advisor.

Flynn—who was first an adviser to Trump’s presidential campaign before becoming one of the President’s top aides, and is the father of this awful guy—was privy to hyper-sensitive foreign policy information. He was involved in White House discussions about potentially lifting sanctions on Russia that former President Barack Obama’s administration had imposed.

The investigation involves the FBI’s desire to determine whether the Trump administration colluded with Russia to interfere with the presidential election.
