Among other things, Donald Trump is painfully predictable.
On Sunday evening, the president-elect returned to Twitter to take shots at NBC and Saturday Night Live following a skit that parodied his Wednesday press conference. The cold opening for this week’s episode featured Alec Baldwin reprising his impersonation of Trump, and touched on a wide range of topics, including his conflict on interests, his lackluster lineup for the inauguration concert, and the 35-page unverified dossier that alleged the president-elect hired Russian prostitutes to perform “golden showers” for him. For those who missed the skit, just know it was filled with countless piss puns.
“I’m going to bring back a thick stream of jobs back to this country, the biggest, strongest, steadiest stream you’ve ever seen,” Baldwin says. “This country will literally be showered with jobs because I am a major whiz at jobs. This will be a golden opportunity for me as president to make a splash.”
The day following the broadcast, Trump blasted the comedy sketch comedy show, claiming it was “not funny,” had a “terrible” cast, and was “a complete hit job”—echoing his previous statements about the long-running program.
In an interview with Fox News, incoming White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer defended Trump’s criticism of SNL, insisting the show was” just bad.”
“Saturday Night Live used to be funny,” Spicer said. “It’s gone from being funny to just bad. Those aren’t jokes. They’re inappropriate […] I think for a lot of people, regardless of your political persuasion, that’s not what you’re tuning in for.”
