Hatchimals, the latest hot toy for the holiday season, apparently has a swearing problem.

In a new article by CTV Vancouver Island, a mother and father in B.C. say their child’s new Hatchimal is saying “fuck me” while its sleeping. After the alleged curse words, the toy also says some gibberish that most of us don’t understand.

"I'm pretty sure it says 'fuck me,'" Nick Galego told CTV Vancouver Island. They have proof—just in case you want to dispute their claim. It does sound a bit like a sigh—and more like “hug me”—but you can hear it for yourself.

Sarah Galego says she also heard the curse word, but she says the family won’t be returning the toy since their son loves it so much.

"If he was a little bit older we might be more offended about it," she said.

If you aren’t familiar with the Hatchimal, it’s a pet that comes in an encased egg which can hatch to reveal a fluffy, bird-like creature inside. The more you care for them (like hugging, playing, etc.), the quicker creatures break out of their shells, emitting light out of their eyes and make noises. You can train them to speak, dance, and play games.

Spin Master, the company that produces the toy, responded to the negative reviews in a statement to Buzzfeed that assured consumers that “Hatchimals do not curse, nor do they use foul language.”

“Hatchimals communicate by speaking their own unique language, which is made up of random sounds, and by making other noises, including shivering when they’re cold and snoring while they sleep,” Denise Gagnon said.

One of the cool things about Hatchimals is that they have a “learn to talk” feature where you can teach them words. Whether or not these toys are cursing of their own free will, some people are making them do it anyway.

Let’s hope kids aren’t around to hear the Hatchimals repeat this foul language...
