Kellyanne Conway, who was instrumental in running Donald Trump’s presidential bid, blasted the Clinton campaign Saturday, after it announced support for Jill Stein’s recount efforts.
“What a pack of sore losers,” Conway said in an exclusive statement to Bloomberg. “After asking Mr. Trump and his team a million times on the trail, ‘Will HE accept the election results?’ it turns out Team Hillary and their new BFF Jill Stein can’t accept reality.”
Conway’s statement comes after Green party officials filed for a recount in Wisconsin on Friday. Stein raised a whopping $5 million in a matter of days, from people desperate to find out whether or not the election was tampered with by outside forces, as some experts have suggested.
“Rather than adhere to the tradition of graciously conceding and wishing the winner well, they’ve opted to waste millions of dollars and dismiss the democratic process. The people have spoken. Time to listen up. #YesYourPresident,” Conway added.
Stein also plans to file for recounts in Pennsylvania and Michigan, which along with Wisconsin were among the most hotly contested states, with Trump beating Clinton by slim margins.
The President-elect also issued a statement, in which he echoed his top aide’s criticism of the recount. “This recount is just a way for Jill Stein, who received less than one percent of the vote overall and wasn't even on the ballot in many states, to fill her coffers with money, most of which she will never even spend on this ridiculous recount,” Trump said.
While experts have stressed that it’s unlikely any voting fraud would be uncovered, Clinton continues to widen her lead in the popular vote, which some have suggested is reason enough to file for a recount. Trump however, isn’t buying it.
"The people have spoken and the election is over,” he said. “As Hillary Clinton herself said on election night, in addition to her conceding by congratulating me, 'We must accept this result and then look to the future.'"
