Ahead of its premiere at New York Comic Con, Lionsgate released the teaser trailer for 2017's Power Rangers—thanks to a bootleg version that found it's way onto the internet early this morning—and it's clear that filmmakers were going for less serious, and more grit.

The movie tells the story of five teenagers in Angel Grove, California who must save the world from the impending threat of an alien invasion. There are explosions, cop chases, teens making out, and fight scenes aplenty. What there isn't: a truly good look at the power rangers suits. Gizmodo's Beth Elderkin summed up fan response this morning, writing, "There’s no exciting declaration, 'It’s Morphin’ Time!' It’s just, 'Oh this thing is happening I guess.' Color me meh ... There were a few quips and jokes in there, but this isn’t the Power Rangers we grew up with at all."

Per Coming Soon, the cast includes Dacre Montgomery (Jason the Red Ranger), RJ Cyler (Billy the Blue Ranger), Naomi Scott (Kimberly the Pink Ranger), Becky G (Trini the Yellow Ranger), Ludi Lin (Zack the Black Ranger), Elizabeth Banks (Rita Repulsa), Bryan Cranston (Zordon), and Bill Hader (Alpha 5).

Power Rangers drops March 24 of next year.
