Tuesday afternoon, WPVI-TV Philadelphia's Nora Muchanic reported that a Trenton police officer allegedly had sex with a prostitute at a K-9 training facility. The officer, who the Trentonian reports has been identified as Ed Leopardi, has since committed suicide. Sources tell the Trentonian that Leopardi shot himself.

The Trentonian further reports that Leopardi was a 22-year veteran who also served as mayor in Franklin Township. Unconfirmed reports about the events leading up to his death say that Leopardi had anal sex with the prostitute, who he managed to disguise from cameras outside of the facility (though it's being reported that she showed up on cameras within the facility). Leopardi reportedly had unprotected anal sex with the prostitute, and after finishing, wiped his penis on curtains within the facility.

"Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo Onofri confirmed Wednesday afternoon that Ed Leopardi had committed suicide apparently at his own home in Franklin Township, Gloucester County," the Trentonian reports. "The prosecutor said he had just received a phone call Wednesday afternoon about the cops’ sudden death. But he refused to say whether his office had interviewed Leopardi or had planned to interview him prior to the apparent suicide."

Sources tell the Trentonian that the curtains and seat cushions from the building have been seized in the investigation of the prostitution allegations, as has Leopardi's K-9 truck, and the prostitute reportedly delivered her panties from the alleged encounter to police in a plastic bag. Various reports say that other officers knew of the alleged encounter, but this reportedly only became evident following the prostitute's arrest.

The Trentonian also reports that the K-9 facility was infamous for cops bringing in prostitutes in the 1990s, but Trenton police had reportedly cleaned up their ways leading up to Tuesday's allegations.

Leopardi is survived by a wife and three children.
