The terrifying criminal clown saga that has been reported in both North and South Carolina over the last few weeks is only getting scarier and more bizarre as the days go on. People dressed as clowns have reportedly been luring children into the woods of the Carolinas, and now witnesses say that a man wielding a machete chased down one of these clowns in Greensboro, N.C., according to the New York Daily News.
The Daily News reports that at about 10 p.m. on Tuesday, witnesses saw someone wearing a clown mask, a curly red wig, a yellow polka-dot shirt, blue "clown pants," and clown shoes emerging from the woods near an apartment complex. To make things more nightmarish, the witnesses also saw a man with a machete chasing the clown, who eventually escaped back into the woods and was not found by police when they showed up a short time later. Of course, this is just the latest in a string of terrifying clown sighting reports around the country. Last Tuesday, a 14-year-old boy in Columbus, Ohio reported that he was chased by someone wearing a clown mask at a bus stop.
Police were also called in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Sunday after witnesses reported seeing a man dressed as a clown using candy to try to lure children into the woods, according to MWAZ in North Carolina. The clown fled when police arrived, and police were unable to catch him.
Witnesses around the Fleetwood Apartment complex in Greenville, S.C. have also reported seeing several clowns who were also trying to lure children into nearby woods, and residents of the complex were advised to keep children indoors at night. It sounds like this whole clown situation has officially gotten out of control.
