Former Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle is reportedly suing the parents of one of his victims. Fogle is suing the parents of a "Jane Doe" and "blaming them for the teen's problems," TMZreported. Doe's parents sued Fogle and his former business partner, Russell Taylor, earlier this year.
Fogle's suit claims the victim’s parents abused alcohol and engaged in fights in front of her, a pattern Fogle alleges resulted in depression. Additionally, Fogle is blaming the parents for her allegedly "destructive" behavior. According to Fogle, this behavior included drug use, alcohol abuse, suicidal thoughts, and acts of self-mutilation.
The suit is cited byTMZ as an attempt by Fogle at relieving himself from full responsible for the claims listed in the original lawsuit. Fogle, as previously reported, is currently serving a 15-year prison sentence after pleading guilty in federal court to child pornography possession and traveling to pay for sexual encounters with minors.
In March, TMZ reported Fogle was pummeled by a fellow prisoner who was said to be at his breaking point due to the facility's high number of sexual predators. The encounter, in which Fogle was jumped in the recreation yard at the Englewood prison in Colorado, reportedly left the disgraced Subway spokesperson with a swollen face and bloody nose.
At his sentencing in November, Fogle vowed to redeem his life. "Not a day will go by that I don't think about them, what I did and the impact on their lives," Fogle told the judge of his victims, according toNBC News. His attorneys had initially request a much lighter sentence of five years, though he ultimately received 15. Fogle isn't eligible for parole for another 13 years.
