A man cruising around near Margaretting in Britain in his sweet vintage DeLorean at a cool 88 miles per hour recently when he was caught speeding by a speed gun. The speed racer later got a traffic violation ticket in the mail, but don't worry: he insists he wasn't trying to travel through time by zooming down the road.

55-year-old Nigel Mills was booking it to work on a Sunday morning when he was stopped for speeding. The Telegraph reported that while addressing reporters after a hearing regarding his traffic violation, Mills said, "I was being prosecuted for going 88 mph in a DeLorean, wasn't something special meant to happen at 88 mph?" Mills added, "I can honestly say I wasn't trying to time travel. It was at 11am on Sunday and the road was completely clear." Well, so long as he says he's being honest.

According to The Telegraph, Mills only takes the car out a couple of times each year and was none too pleased that he got slapped with a fine for breaking the law. "I was fed up," Mills said. "Like most motorists, of being a law-abiding citizen but a soft target for the traffic police."

Mills' fine was dropped after he fought it in court, but ranted on: "Why should I pay this speeding fine while they [travellers] would get away with it? I'm pleased at the result, but I wish that the police could do a better job when it comes to real crimes against people."
