Ronald McDonald is perhaps most known for his long and rewarding career as the McDonald's fast food chain's resident clown with a fire collection of big-ass shoes. However, as a recent incident in North Carolina shows, there are also real, actual, non-clown people named Ronald McDonald.
Ronald McDonald, 36, was injured during a shootout at Sonic Drive-In in Lumberton Thursday, the Bladen Journalreports. McDonald, who has no connection to the restaurant chain surely most known for its sick Angry Birds collab, reportedly had a "verbal confrontation" with Telvin Drummond, a 24-year-old Sonic Drive-In employee.
Following the argument, McDonald reportedly returned to Sonic Drive-In for verbal confrontation, part two. According to local authorities, this follow-up argument ended with "both men shooting at each other" around 7:20 p.m. McDonald was wounded during the exchange of gunfire, though his injuries are said to be non-life threatening.
Though the Lumberton Police Department is currently investigating the incident, no charges have been filed and no arrests have been made. McDonald is married to one of the managers of the Sonic Drive-In where the shootout took place. His relation to Drummond is unknown.
This isn't the first time someone named Ronald McDonald had a run-in with the law. Back in 2013, a Ronald McDonald II of New Jersey was arrested whilst totally naked at a Hampton Inn. According to the Trentonian, McDonald II refused authorities' requests to clothe himself and was eventually arrested and charged with obstruction.
The Lumberton Police Department did not immediately respond to Complex's request for comment.
