KIIS 106.5 radio duo Kyle and Jackie O are under fire once again for a competition they’re running for Mother’s Day that allows entrants to win their mum a brand new set of boobs, NewsCorp reports.
The “Boobs For You And Your Mum” competition asks listeners to send in a photo of them with their mum (but nothing risqué of course), their mum’s bra size and an explanation as to why she deserves a chest upgrade – winners will then receive $24,000 which can be used for the surgery.
The reaction to the competition has been naturally, quite mixed so far. “This promotion is terrible. What happened to teaching our young women about being confident and proud of who we are,” one commenter said, adding that Mother’s Day should be about celebrating the achievements of women.
However, another said it would be a “dream come true”, while others mentioned it would “change [their] lives forever” and be “the biggest gift [they] give [their] mother”. Some other comments seemed to allude to getting a breast reduction for their mother, rather than an augmentation.
A spokesperson for Australian Radio Network has clarified that the prize money will be awarded to the winners to spend as they wish. The terms and conditions also read as follows: “for the avoidance of doubt, the prize is cash, not any form of surgery or procedure. It is entirely at the discretion of the winner to use this cash for any purpose.”
KIIS are in great company with the last media company to run a similar competition being Zoo magazine in 2007, where readers could win a boob job for their girlfriend. It’s par for the course for Kyle and Jackie O, but we look forward to seeing whether this one blows up in their face as impressively as some of their other hair-brained schemes have in the past.
