When police found "Bubba," a terrier-mix puppy, he was high as hell. The extremely sleepy dog was discovered in a motel room after officers in Tustin, Calif., about an hour outside Los Angeles, arrested his owner on drug charges, according to the Tustin Police Department's post on Facebook. When they tested the dog later, it reportedly had heroin, methamphetamine, and nicotine in its system.

CBS Los Angeles reported this week that 40-year-old Joshua West was arrested on March 22 on charges including possession of paraphernalia, heroin and meth, after cops said they found needles and drugs in his room. He was also charged with animal cruelty. It's still not clear how exactly how Bubba got the drugs into his system.

"This is the first time we've ever heard of someone reporting that an animal has been under the influence," Tustin police Lt. Robert Wright told reporters.

The station reports that the dog is expected to make a full recovery. Tustin police wrote on Facebook that the dog is receiving drug treatment at an animal care facility. Once the dog has recovered, he'll be placed with a rescue organization who will work to find him a permanent home.

Maybe they'll find a place for him with that pit bull who snitched on his meth-dealing owner, or that K-9 who couldn't make it in the drug game. You can see video of Bubba in CBS Los Angeles' broadcast
