A 35-year-old man has drunkenly threatened tram passengers near the Docklands area with a syringe on Thursday night, The Age reports.

The incident, which occurred on a tram on the corner of Spencer and Collins St, left one passenger with minor injuries. Of course, it also had to involve a loud racist rant from the drunk individual.

3AW sports editor Alexandra Factor was on the tram, and captured the incident on her phone. Talking to 3AW’s Neil Mitchell, she explained that the man allegedly used a syringe to threaten others around him, and apparently "[said] something like, 'I've got a syringe in my hand I'm going to hit you with it'."

As depicted in the footage taken, he then sat next to a man in a business suit, who he relentlessly harassed and allegedly made racist comments towards.

"The man tried to ignore the man that was yelling at him...and got up and started walking away. But the man started yelling all these things out and kicked the man in the leg as he walked away,” Ms Factor said.

When the drunk man finally got off the tram, he decided to stroll down the street throwing bottles and abusing passers-by before returning to the tram stop and getting on another.

Police reports indicate that four people were allegedly assaulted in the incident, and the man will be in court today on charges of affray, assault, theft and being drunk in a public place. You can see the video for yourself above.
