After Sydney's lockouts were so widely-accepted and popular with the general population (please note the sarcasm), Queensland have decided to get in on the act with new lockout laws of their own.

The story is still developing, but here's what we know so far. Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk reached a deal with two MPs from Katter’s Australian Party to implement the laws. From July 1, there will be a new 2am 'last drinks' call for all venues outside of designated entertainment precincts. Nightclub districts will have a 3am last call.

From February 2017, a 1am last drinks call will be implemented for nightclub areas.

That's what we know so far, and from here we'll leave it to Twitter to properly assess the new rules, which are sure to be wildly popular in Surfer's Paradise.
